Can you help me decide what Masters degree to go for?
I have a B.S. in Psychology and needless to say I am very unsatisfied with my earnings (I graduated 4 years ago). I am a single mom with two kids so I have to work full-time. My passion is health care, but all the health programs I can find require day-time classes and internships, which are impossible for me. I’m looking for a Masters degree I can complete online, but it needs to be worth the money. I want my salary to be at least $50-60K starting. I have been looking at MBA and Computer Science programs since they seem to be lucrative and are offered online, but I have no background in business or no interest in computers. Any suggestions on good Master’s degree choices? Anything I go into debt for needs to provide a comfortable life for me and my daughters. Please help as I have cried over this many nights.

I think its irresponsible to get into more debt pursing Psychology if I’m not going to make a decent salary, even if it is my passion, it will make life harder for my kids.

If you truly like health than you should follow your heart and do what your conscious says. Do your best in whatever you choose.
Take it from me… do not get a computer science degree if you have no interest in computers. It will be a waste as you will be dooming yourself to a job you hate. Perhaps you could get a type of certification or other degree in the health care field that you are interested in. Like , say you liked geriatrics… then get an associates degree in that.. Don’t go exclusively for a starting salary. You are better off to start off at a lower pay but love your job and feel like it is satisfying to you.
Another thought is to look into the educational field. Then, you would be home with your kids during breaks and summer.
