Anyone know of an inexpensive place to stay for a night or two?

My husband and I will be celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary the first week in October. We went to Panama City Beach for our honeymoon and again for our 1st anniversary because we LOVED it!! Unfortunately we cannot return this year because I am back in school and we just can’t afford it. We would love a place to stay for maybe a weekend or at least 1 night. Maybe a cabin on the lake or just anywhere to get away from everyday life for a day or two. We live in Arlington, TX (near Dallas) but would not mind a drive as long as its just a few hrs away. Any suggestions?

Try Corpus Christi. Me and my Wife have gone there before. There are relatively cheap hotels near the marina. there is the USS Lexington and the Texas State aquarium. Plenty of good sea food. Padre Island seashore is a short drive from Corpus and is worth visiting. You can have that relaxing romantic moonlight stroll on the beach there if you want to. If you don’t want to go that far you can try the new hotel at the winstar casino just north of the state line in OK.

A little bit closer than Corpus Christi is Galveston – one of my favourite paces in Texas.
The island is divine – so relaxing and romantic.

It’s a bit further than what you’d like but well worth the drive.
You can stay at (the very reasonable) Motel 6 just on the left before going over to the island.

A little closer (3hr drive) is Caddo Lake at Uncertain.
They have cabins there, check out their website:

Closer to home but more expensive for the accommodation try the RV Ranch – gorgeous!:

I hope wherever you go – you enjoy your 2nd anniversary.
It’s a lovely tradition to get into – spending time together somewhere special.
